I am allowed rest breaks during in my exams, so that I can get up and alleviate some of the pain in my leg. As such, I am sat in an assisted room with other people who also are allowed rest breaks or extra time or both. It's university policy that a student cannot leave in the first thirty minutes or last fifteen of an exam in order to not disturb the people taking the test (this isn't filler, it is relevant to the story I promise!).
I reached the end of my time, exam was over, and was filling out the front of my answer booklets. Behind me my friend Mindy had also finished, and on my left my other friend Nathan was doing the same thing. However there was another girl (and for the life of me I wish I could remember her name, but I can't so let's go with Jackie), who still had a couple of minutes left on her exam.
So I was filling out my booklet, using the extra time I had to sit in silence to some kind of end. Beside me one of the invigilators was waiting, less than patiently for me to finish signing the various boxes and date the right sections of the form. In my hurry I managed to take the skin off the side of my little finger, giving myself the biggest paper cut I'd ever thought possible, and dragging blood across all three of my answer booklets.
I couldn't quite believe it! I started at the welling crimson on my hand, and then clutched it with my other hand to try and stop any more blood falling on the paper that would determine the outcome of my physics grade, holding it awkwardly to the side over the desk.
In an attempt to resolve the issue, I turned to whispering frantically at the closest invigilator, while Nathan and Mindy did their best not to laugh while he ran off in search of a tissue at the very least to stem the bleeding. Thankfully he came back with his papery prize quicker than I had thought possible, and helping me clean up the small mess I had made of my hands.
When Jackie's exam finished, the bleeding had almost come to a complete stop. But there was nothing like a little end of exam mayhem to take people's mind far from physics test that we'd just sat. We all left, giggling about the ridiculous nature of the situation. Never before has an exam literally caused me injury! I should have been far more careful!
Oh well, that's just a funny little thing that happened in exam season.
I hope to write again soon. Until then, I hope you all have a wonderful time.
