But of course, writing in public can sometime be a dangerous affair. Mainly because people can see you typing, and some are even in perfect view of the screen. And some people are just curious or nosy enough to ask - what are you writing? Some people even work out that you're writing a book and ask - are you writing a book?
My answer to which is always a meek mumbling of yes, a book. Mainly because, although I am fairly literate on the page, when it comes to speaking to other people in person about my books I can barely string three words together in time to form a coherent sentence. Especially when I've just been abruptly dragged out of my story and plopped back into the real world.
It's always rather hilarious to watch the faces of these strangers when you try to explain what your book is about. Some people nod with interest, others look at me as if I'm completely batty. A rare few comment on how that sounds like a really good read. I guess you can't please everybody!
Still ,regardless I will always love writing in coffee shops. No matter how many intrigued individuals ask me questions about my work. I've decided to take it as a compliment, after all they're obviously interested in my writing.
