Now obviously, like most things, practice makes perfect. But sometimes it's important to remember that we need to emotionally distance ourselves from our book before we go in to do the edit. Why? Because otherwise when we start to notice problems (and we inevitably will), we may start to get emotional or get down in our feelings towards our book and end up prone to irrational action. So, do yourself a favour, emotionally remove yourself from your book as much as possible before this edit.
So here is my take on it. I hope that you guys found this interesting or useful. If you did, please let me know by telling me so in the comments section. As always, I hope that you guys have a positive and productive week and I'll see you all soon. Bye!
So here is a little list of all of the reasons I think that being a writer is pretty great!
So what do you guys think? Do you agree with my list? Do you have any things you think that I've missed off? Until next time guys, I hope you all have positive and productive weeks.
Okie dokie let's dive right in. Sometimes we want to write, but we just can't. We do our best, we sit in front of that blinking cursor, staring at the white page, but nothing happens. Its tough, but here is my solution for that problem. This is how i get into the Writing Frame of Mind.
I hope that you find this useful. To anyone who is going to try this and has tried this comment below about some of the things you're going to try doing. Maybe it'll help other people set up their own rewarding environments. Helping others be productive and positive is totally what I'm here for.
I hope that you guys all have a fantastic week and I'll see you next time for another Book Chatter video! Bye :)
Anywho let's get onto the interesting things. January was a really challenging month for me, but I think given the circumstances I've done pretty. You can learn more about that below.
So what did you think? Hopefully my goals for February aren't too ambitious, and I'm so excited for the release date at the end of May. There is so much that I have to do to launch Glass Slipper that I'm feeling a little overwhelmed. However I've never been one to shy away from a challenge and I'm looking forward to what everything that is going to come as a result, all the work but all the rewards as well. I'm hoping to launch a career that's 100% book focused - what could be better?
I hope that you guys are as excited for Glass Slipper as I am. Let me know in the comments section if you are. As always guys, I look forward to seeing you all again very shortly. I hope you all have positive and productive months!
Ending your novel in the right way is so important. You need to leave people wanting more, give satisfying yet powerful and unexpected endings. Striking the balance is extremely difficult, and the differences between ending a series, book one or a book in the middle vary wildly.
So what did you think? I hope that you guys enjoyed that! Please let me know if you have any comments, questions anything else that you'd like to know more about. I hope that you guys have fantastic, positive and productive weeks and I'll speak to you all again very very shortly.
Okay so today we're talking about Character Description Dos and Don'ts. There are some things that can really help enhance or kill of you characters when introducing them to you reader. Just because you love (or hate) a character, it's another matter entirely convincing your audience to do the same. So here are my handy hints to help you out in this matter.
So there you have it. Like I said, there are always situations where the rules don't apply. Remember that you're the author, the rules are yours to make up as you go. But from my experience, these things help a tonne with getting your reader to engage with your characters.
If you have any others to add thrown them down in the comments section and as always guys I hope that you have positive and productive weeks and I'll see you all very, very soon. Bye!
So today we're talking about realistic writing. There are a whole bunch of things you can expect when you start writing. Most of them good (ie theraputic, a sense of productivity ect) but some are weird and some are a little unnerving. So here are some of my top things to expect when you're writing your novel.
I really hope that you enjoyed this video. As always guys, the main thing to do when writing a novel is be kind and enjoy yourself. If you enjoy yourself then you will no doubt write a better and more engaging novel.
I hope you all have a positive and productive week and I'll see you all super soon.
Now obviously as I move into 2019 I have some rather big plans. But more on that later down the line. As you will know if you've seen my videos before, I will be officially launching my own publishing company. I will accepting submissions from other authors and working towards publishing them! How crazy is that? Not only other authors, but I intend to publish two of my own books this year and set up a notebook line for people working on multiple creative projects at the same time. It's a lot to get done in a year! Fancy coming along for the ride?
So that's how I did this month. I hope that you guys enjoyed this video. It was slightly different to normal, but if you liked that be sure the let me know. I hope you've all had a positive and productive start to 2019 and I'll see you all very soon.
Okay, so this week's post is about first chapters, because it's the beginning of a new year and the first chapter is the beginning of a new book.
Now obviously there is no hard and fast rules in writing, other than generally obeying good grammar and spelling - but even then there are times you can make exceptions (looking at Patrick Ness here). With that being said, there are things that I have noticed from reading other books that have made the first chapter's I've read there really engaging. Here are a couple of rules that I recommend people consider when starting of their masterpiece. But as always, there are going to be exceptions.
So those are a couple of my general guidelines for writing first chapters. I hope you agree with me on some of my points, if you don't then let me know why not. Let's start a discussion. Do you think I left something out?
So with 2019 I want to really focus on my YouTube channel and my content. You guys already know that I make monthly vlogs showing you my goals. You've seen how I plan my years and make my Aspiration-boards. What I really need from everyone is feedback! I want to grow, improve and show you guys what you want to see. So with that in mind, this year I may try a few new styles of video. If you have suggestions, you know how to reach me :)
I hope you all have positive and productive weeks this week and I'll see you soon for another video!
It's so important to learn the difference but it can be so hard to work it out. When you write a book, it's so personal that sometimes even getting little feedback can feel like unjust hatred. However sometimes it's hard to identify when those comments really are hate.
So that's my two penny's worth. Do you guys have any tips or comments to add? I am hardly an expert on the conversation, but I think we can all agree that it's important to learn the different and develop a thick skin to all the people that want to rain on your positivity parade!
I'm wishing all of you guys a Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas and so much more. I hope you have positive and productive weeks if you plan to write, if not don't worry. You no doubt deserve a nice relaxing holiday (I know I do!). Don't forget to check out my give away on YouTube!
